The next step is to gather the necessary accessories to perform the test. The diagram is numbered to show the various accessories.

All of the test cables must be the same fiber type and core size (in the case of multimode) of the fiber under test.

Then determine the appropriate connector configuration:

Cable #1: The “OTDR” end of the fiber ring must be LC and the other end of the fiber ring must match the connector type in the link under test.
