A properly designed fiber network will have connection points on both ends of the fiber link (such as patch panels or wall outlets), where equipment can be patched in.
Proper network design allows the fiber network to be tested with the 1-jumper reference method – this reference method provides the greatest amount of measurement accuracy.
The procedure in this slideshow assumes a properly designed network, and the 1-jumper reference method.
Other link configurations may require the technician to adapt their reference method accordingly, where a 2-jumper or even a 3-jumper method may be necessary.
