In this example, we are testing a CS1 horizontal link from a DA / HC out to one of the equipment outlets, but through a centrally-located patch panel called a consolidation point, or CP. CPs allow a high fiber count cable to be pulled to a central location and installed into the back of a patch panel. The front of the CP then allows lower fiber count cables to be pulled to individual equipment outlets.
So the link budget would include 2 test cord connections and 1 mid-span connection.
